What is happening with the levy in October 2018

Bill 18 - An act to amend the Cities, Towns and Villages Act to authorize councils to impose a tax on tourist accommodations.
Bill 18 has had its third reading and will be brought before the Assembly during the 2nd half of October. If it is passed, it will then be up to the City to draw up the By-laws and legislation for the collection and dispersing of funds.
Once the By-Laws are in place and the collection of the Levy begins, the DMO will be set up.
